Noise-cancelling headphones are definitely worth the price tag for what you’re getting, but it all depends on your specific situation. If you spend a lot of time travelling or in a loud workplace, these headphones can be life-changing. They block out much of the background noise around you, allowing you to remain focused and enjoy music or podcasts without distractions.
Premium models with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology can suppress noises such as aeroplane engines or office conversations. It is especially useful during flights or long commutes. ANC headphones can also enhance the overall listening experience by allowing you to engage with audio without increasing the volume.
However, they may not be worth your time if you don’t encounter noise in your day-to-day life. If you’re mostly using headphones in quiet environments, I suspect you’ll be fine with a standard pair of headphones. You don’t have to spend a lot for good sound quality if noise cancellation isn’t a priority for you.
Finally, if you tend to get easily distracted and need quiet and focus, we think noise-cancelling headphones are worth the investment. But if you’re not regularly battling leaf blowers, motorcades, jackhammers, or other cacophony, you may not be getting all the value out of them.
